First Grade Orientation helps transition first grade students during the lunch hour. During this time, the volunteers assist students with their lunches, help students buy milk and hot lunch, show them to the restrooms, and make them feel comfortable eating with a large group of students. Once the first graders are done with lunch, the volunteers help escort the children out to the playground for recess. They also assist students on where to place their lunch boxes after they are done with them and where to line up when recess is over.
About 4-6 volunteers help out every day the first two weeks of school. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Cortney Carpenter prior to the start of the school year to get on the schedule.
