Girls on the Run is coming to Barrington…
Join Jessica Sparks, Council Director for Girls on the Run to learn about this dynamic after school program offered to 4th & 5th grade girls.
Tuesday, December 3rd, 6pm to 7pm
If you have any questions or would like to help out with the program please contact Erin Bowden, School Counselor 487-5180 x5022.
Girls on the Run inspires girls to stay true to themselves and live free from societal stereotypes. The 10 week curriculum innovatively weaves training for a 5k run with lessons that empower girls to celebrate their bodies, honor their voices and embrace their unique gifts. Girls on the Run of Franklin County was founded in 2008 as an independent, local council of Girls on the Run International. The program’s mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience – based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Thank you to the many Barrington families who contributed to the coat drive. We are thankful for the generosity of so many families and the difference we will make to so many people.
Because of your generosity, we were able to donate:
183 coats & pullovers
34 pairs of gloves
4 pairs of boots & shoes
We would also like to thank Kroger for donating collection bins and liners.
Barrington PTO is collecting Box Tops for Education. Box Tops add up! Our school earns 10 cents for every Box Top collected.
Please remember to cut out the Box Top from each package of your favorite Box Top products. Send the Box Tops to school with your child or drop off in the Box Tops container located in the school office. This is an easy way for every family to help raise money for our school.
Visit http://www.boxtops4education.com/products/participating-products to see all brands that participate in this program. You will be surprised how many things use on a daily basis that have Box Tops on them!
The coat drive is well under way. As the temperatures drop and we get bundled up, we realize the need for everyone to stay warm is critical. All that winter outerwear you can no longer wear will help other kids stay warm. This is a chance for us to help others!
We will continue the donation drive until Monday, November 25th. The Salvation Army will pick up our items on Tuesday, November 26th.
Acceptable items – coats (kids & adults), hats, boots & gloves.
Collection points – outside main office, Barrington road entrance/exit and the cafeteria/SACC entrance/exit.
Thanks to all those who have already donated. Questions?…please email Annette Cullman at email@example.com
As the weather gets cold, we are fortunate our kids can bundle up to stay warm. Let’s help other kids do the same!
The PTO is coordinating a coat drive with donations going to the Salvation Army. Your kids and possibly adults may have outgrown those winter coats and boots. Please set them aside and donate to others.
Coat collection will start next week November 4-8th. You can even bring coats to donate with you when you vote.

For First Grade Parents:
Welcome to First Grade at Barrington Elementary! This year will go quickly and it will be amazing to see the growth in your child in one year. With the many changes that go on with First Grade, the first grade teachers and PTO First Grade Orientation Committee have developed a plan to help your child through the transition. We are here to offer assistance and support. Most important for you to know is that your children will be supervised and well taken care of by their teachers, volunteer parents, and staff.
Please read the First Grade Welcome letter for helpful hints and more information on how incoming First Graders will be provided additional support.
Our parent volunteers at Barrington are extremely valued and important. There are numerous opportunities throughout the year to participate in your child’s education including in the class room, on field trips, and as a member of the PTO to name only a few. Volunteers are one of the reasons Barrington is such a great school!
If you are interested in volunteering for PTO activities, please either fill out the online “I’ll Do It” form, or complete the paper “I’ll Do It” form and bring it to Bobcat Day or, drop it in the PTO mailbox at the main office, or email the form to a co-president. Thank you!
